Stella is a toddler who was born with a boil on her bladder.

She needed a Bladder Exstrophy Repair. She had one done when she was only 5 months old but it failed.

Her surgery was actually performed in India this time & was covered under medical. OLCC provided the funds necessary to cover living expenses for the 6 weeks Mom and Stella were there.

Total cost was CAN $500

Mary Anne

Mary Anne is a 12 year old girl, one of five children.

The parents came to us when it was discovered she was diagnosed as a type one diabetic.

This is foreign to the parents on how to deal with this. Mary Anne has fainted, unconscious and has visited the hospital several times.

While Naida was in Kenya in Sept 2024 she took Mary Anne to see a specialist who explained to the mother, Leah and Naida how best to deal with the lifestyle of a diabetic.

Ann Wanjiku is a 12 year old child who was born with a deformed hand.  OLCC has taken her to hospital, x-rays done.  The Kenyan doctors even consulted with USA doctors before making the decision to move forward with 2 operations.  At this time we are waiting for a date for surgery.  We have not been told what the cost will be as most of it will be covered by the health insurance.


Dennis is a young boy about 12 years.  

No known relatives and currently living in an orphanage.

There is no known cause for the burns to his face.  The burns go from his forehead down to his lips.  due to the burns his norse is deformed and the condition is deteriorating.

 If there is no intervention soon, his nostrils will be completely obstructed.  

We are told there will be multiple surgeries. OLCC provided him with 5 surgeries in total.  Deniis is a very brave boy for all that he has been through. 

James  had a road accident five years ago that affected his jaw.  

It became deformed and he was unable to open his mouth much, thus causing great trouble in eating and speaking. Surgery cost was $4000

Paul was born but developed a mild cerebral palsy.  

He is unable to walk as his legs are weak but will be able to rehabilitate by surgery.  

This will enhance Paul's mobility.  Paul has been using his knees to walk.  Reconstructive surgery to his 2 legs and thereapy will cost $3300

Godfrey was born without an anus hole and was living with a temporary bag to gather waste.  

This causes frequent sanitation diseased.  He was very malnourished because of the condition weighting only 20 lbs.  

MRI and surgery was performed.  He had anal opening surgery and then 2nd surgery to close the side hole.

 Godfrey is now a happy, healthy little boy who is now able to attend school and fit in with his age mates.  Surgery costs were $4000

Peter had an eye problem that required a cornea replacement.  Peter has had the surgery which cost $2300

Isaac Waiyaki was six months old when our OLCC representative met with his family.  He was in hospital when it was discovered he had two holes in his heart.  

We agree to take him to the Heart Hospital for consultation.  

He was given heart medication which seemed to help.

Throat surgery was required, but while waiting, he was admitted to hospital because he had a breathing problem. After being admitted, he collapsed in the bed and while in ICU he stopped breathing.  Isaac was 13 months old when he died. 

March 2019 - He was six months old when our OLCC representative met with his family.  He was the youngest of the 3 children in the family.  He was treated at Kijabe Hospital and found to have two holes in his heart.  He was admitted for ten days and then discharged.


May 13, 2019 - Took Isaac to Mater hospital for heart check up they requested we pay 18,100 Kenyan shillings or about $258.57 Canadian for consultation.  Board approved.


May 29th - Isaac was given all the tests and the doctor advised us that they put him on medication to see whether the holes in the heart can heal without surgery.  Medication started today.


Sept 30th - Isaac has been okay.  Although after taking him back to Kijabe Hospital the Doctor said that he will be done throat surgery which is costing 70,000 Kenyan Shillings or about $1000 Canadian.  The medicine that he has been taking for heart, has really helped because the holes in the heart are healing.


Oct 10th- Isaac was to go through a throat surgery but the doctor had said that he needed to be admitted for 10 days beause his breathing had a problem.  After being admitted, he collapsed in the bed and when taken to ICU he didn't survive.
